In February, the Housing Market Index (HMI) reached a score of 74 with a slight decrease in the current, future and traffic components of the index.

The ABI for January rose to 52.2 points, above the neutral mark of 50, with the South region and the Commercial/Industrial sector in the lead.

In January, housing permits reflected an annual rate of approx. 1.6M, 18% above the year-ago rate, with annual increases in both Single and Multi-family permits.

Housing starts were 21% above the year-ago rate with approx.1.6M starts, with increases in both Single and Multi-family annual starts.

The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI) reached 152.5 in January, 2.7% below the revised December score of 156.7.

CPI-U, which measures inflation, increased 0.1% in January, after rising 0.2% in December.

The Associated Builders and Contractors' (ABC) Construction Backlog Indicator (CBI) reports a 4.2% decrease in backlog from November to 8.4 months of backlog in December 2019.
