The ENR Construction Industry Confidence Index (CICI) rose 5 points to 71 in Q4 2017. While most executives are confident in the growth outlook through 2018, the sentiment beyond that point is less optimistic.

The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI) expanded again in December 2017 to 153.9, 3.6% above November's score of 148.6; the commercial and institutional building components also rose by 0.7% and 8.6%, respectively.

The annualized value of Construction Put-in-Place was $1.26T in November 2017, 2.4% above year ago activity.

The Engineering & Construction Cost Index (ECCI) in December 2017 continued to show expansion in current pricing with a score of 54.9. The expectation for higher prices in 6 months also remained high.

CPI-U which measures inflation increased by 0.1% in December 2017, following the 0.4% increase in November. CPI-U rose 2.1% over the last 12 months.

The Construction Cost Index (CCI) indicated annual construction input cost escalations were +3.3% in January 2018.
